SUSTAINABILITY - ASTRA
Astra is manufactured with a minimum of 40% recycled material, with strict and certified control systems relating to quality control, health and safety of workers, reduction in the use of non-renewable resources by using natural raw materials that are not environmentally valuable and adoption of Environmental and Energy Management Systems. Astra is also manufactured in line with LEED & BREAM requirements and has obtained the Environmental Product Declaration EPD (type III) based on analysis of the product life cycle according to the “from cradle to grave” approach. Astra also achieves Greenguard gold certificate, the Declare Label, and the following certifications - ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, UNI/PdR 125 & ISO 20400 Assessment.
Astra complies with the following standards and certifications relating to sustainable manufacturing processes;
- LEED Certificate Recycled material content of more than 40% by weight;
- GreenGuard Gold certificate - which certifies that materials intended for indoor use have very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions, even in the presence of sensitive individuals, such as children and the elderly;
- EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) based on the analysis of the material's life cycle (according to the "from cradle to grave" approach). EPD-IES-0012925:001 (S-P-12925) - Porcelain Stoneware Ceramic Slabs, thicknesses 6 mm and 8 mm, Vetschau Site (DE) - Declare Label® is a label through which manufacturers can voluntarily disclose information on their products in a way that technical information become useful for everyone, as for example composition, places for the final assembly, lifespan, end-of-life options and general conformity to the Living Building Challenge® criteria. This achievement testifies that our materials are ‘Red List Free’ as they don’t contain the noxious chemicals to human health and the ecosystem.
- ISO 9001 Certification: for the management of the company's Quality system. This internationally valid certification covers the entire company management, from research and development to production, from distribution to customer service. This scheme certifies that the company has implemented a corporate quality control system.
- ISO 14001 Certification: is an Environmental Management System, which attests to the validity of the measures taken by the Company to safeguard the internal and external environment. With this certification, our company confirms its commitment to ensuring compliance with laws relating to the environment, and to managing, preserving and, where possible, decreasing the use of natural resources while minimizing pollution.
- ISO 45001 Certification: This is an international standard aimed at risk assessment through a worker health and safety management system, thus allowing Organizations continuous improvement in addition to compliance with legislative requirements.
- ISO 50001 Certification: Energy Management Systems: an international standard that allows, through the implementation of an energy management system, the continuous improvement of one's energy performance, thus enabling a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as well as related energy costs.
- UNI/PdR 125 Certification: Gender Equality Management System - which define guidelines for creating a working environment based on equal opportunities, aiming to foster a fairer presence of genders and their joint contribution to promoting inclusiveness in the organization.
- ISO 20400 Assessment: Sustainable Procurement Management System. The assessment was conducted in accordance with the ISO 20400 guidelines, on the procurement strategies and process as a whole, including the review of the corporate documents, policies, mission, procurement and supplier qualification procedures, monitoring plans and objectives, with particular attention to sustainability performance, also taking into account its stakeholder expectations.
