The Porfirica Collection uses a minimum of 20% content of recycled materials and meets the requirements of ISO 17889-1, which establishes sustainability criteria for ceramic surfaces with the aim of providing design professionals, contractors and consumers with a verifiable and internationally valid standard for identifying product sustainability according to economic, environmental and social sustainability criteria. This is achieved by the factory complying with a series of actions and measures throughout the product life cycle including but not limited to;
- sourcing raw materials locally
- recycled waste content
- use of raw material suppliers that adhere to environmental policy systems
- implementation of Environmental Management System (EMS) and Energy Efficiency Management System (EEMS)
- use of systems for recovering the heat from kilns
- use of renewable energy in the production line
- monitoring of specific fuel consumption for kilns
- monitoring of dust and fluorine emissions into the atmosphere
- recycling and reuse of process waste
- separate collection and recycling of materials used in the production process
- monitoring of specific water consumption and waste-water discharge during the production cycle
- use of packaging made from recycled materials
